The kusari-gama is made up of a single-edged blade mounted perpendicularly to a wooden handle, a fine chain of 9 to 12 feet is put on. At the end of this chain is a weight of iron, it weighs about the same as the whole chain. It was invented by farmers, the kusari-gama later became a fighting tool for the samurai as well as the ninjas.
